BTW - the phone I just got was the Fusic by LG. It has TV and an MP3 player. How am I supposed to use all of the features if I can't even get the phone to last a few hours? The only thing I really use my phone for is text messaging and very limited talking. I don't understand why the battery is dying after doing hardley anything.

Lithium-ion batteries do not have a memory like the old nickel hydrate ones do.
You should get standerd 2-3 hours talk time and about 2 days stand-by. If you are on your phone texting for 2-3 hours your battery should be about dead.

I would suggest that you get a new battery... usually battery that comes to a new cellphone is no longer guaranteed will last longer.. battery has life when not charge the cell inside will discharged from itself, its really a battery life cycle.

When you buy new battery check the date when it was manufactured. New batteries when installed to a new phone it has a 2 bars indicator to be displayed.

Remember you don't want to let the battery die every time before you charge. I myself, charge my phone every night when I do a lot of texting/internet use and when on normal phone drainage... every other night. When you get a new battery I was told by my service provider to let a new battery charge for 24 hours.

I have had this same problem in the past, there are certain variables to consider such as type of battery, phone, usage,damage, etc. I discussed this issue with my service provider and the solution they recommended worked very well and was as followed: after acquiring the new phone and activation is complete connect your new phone to a power source, whether it be powered usb port or wall outlet, and do absolutely nothing with the phone. No texts, phone calls, internet explorer, etc. Note the time you connected the phone to the power source, and allow the battery to get a full charge, the phone should tell you when you its complete. Now look at the time again and see how long it took to receive full charge. This is roughly how long you should charge your phone for next time it needs it. If you notice its taking significantly longer to charge than the initial charge then there might be battery damage and you should have it replaced. Another tip is don't charge the phone until it needs it, usually phone will notify low battery. Try to wait till then so the battery goes through a full and complete cycle. I followed my these instructions and my phone lasts between two to three days even after heavy use of texting, pic mess, camera, and mp3 player. Don't forget you have a manufacturer that got paid for you buying THEIR phone so don't hesitate to call and ask for tips on your specific phone. Hope this helped a little.

My Opinion.

Just put your new cellphone on the charger in the evening, so it will be formatted right... That way you will not be waiting the entire day and you won't even notice the time, because you will be sleeping... :)

You need to see what kind of settings are running in the background of your phone. Some applications check data constantly, thus depleting your batter faster. I have a Samsung Moment, and I had to go to Settings, Data Synchronization, then disable background data. Presto... cell works for two days now. Check out all your phones settings and privacy settings. Just like FB and too much information being transmitted with apps.

From own experience I suggest that you let your phone charge for a while after removing it from the box, I'm not sure how long. I just bought a new blackberry curve 9330 and I didn't even let the phone charge to its fullest before using it now I have to order anew battery because my phone wouldn't make it through out the day without dying

Sometimes you can bring a battery to a discharged state, then give a good overnight charge to see if you can help the Batteries "memory?"?

Yea, I would suggest that you do not let the battery die before you charge it. I am pretty sure (but you might want to look this up) that if you let the battery die before charging it, it actually can damage the battery- and it will not hold its charge for an extended amount of time. If the phone is new, I would not play around with it when you first get it. I would turn it off and let it charge for at least 7 hours, I would say. Hope this helps- even though it seems like this answer was put in a year late! :P

I buy 4 back up batteries and an external battery only charger about $20 TOTAL from an Asian country on Ebay so 15-30 days delivery. I keep the extra batteries fully charged in my purse and can run away any weekend with no worries! I can swap a battery when dead anywhere EASY!
