View Full Version : What do I need to do to get power to the thermostat

Well my heatpump stop working and I've been asking around what could it be well someone said get a new thermostat I did but there no power going to the thermostat what do I need to check or replace to get power going to it again

Power to the tstat comes from the transformer in the airhandler/furnace,normally the red tstat wire brings 24 volts to tstat,, its possible when changing out the tstat if a person fails to turn off the power at breaker they will make a spark and fry transformer,, but if it's a later model gas furnace one shoulg 1st check the fuse in the circuit board for it could be blown

It don't have a fuse I looked it stopped working before a storm came and when I took the tstat off the wall I had the power turned off I just don't know what it is .it a OLDER airhandler its in a 1985 single wide
