I am trying to kill the roots and trunk on the outside of my buuilding to stop them from growing cause they have caused damage to the foundation letting water seep into my basement.

I understand that Clorox bleach (or a similar product), injected into the root system (you would have to dig into the root) works - but it's a very slow process.

Do you own the tree? Why not have an arborist or landscaper simply remove it and grind the stump away?

If you want a killer root killer call around to garden supply stores and ask for fine grain Copper Sulphate. Sprinkle that around and see if that doesn't work. Good luck, Tom

The root is too close to the house and don't want to cause more cracks trying to remove it... will try the bleach... thanks
