I paid for funeral for my step dad. No other family offer to help. He didn't have will. Now family members wants his house and property that's fine. His uncle and Dad own house jointy. The house go to uncle. Family members (couisns) wanting their share. That fine. They can fight over it. My question is can I sue family for the cost of funeral?

I don't see grounds for a lawsuit unless you had an agreement that they would pay and/or contribute.

It was your choice to bury him in the manner in which he was buried - correct?

I see no lawsuit.

If there is a probate estate you can file a claim against the estate. Problem is, it appears from what you have written that there is no estate. He owned nothing when he died?

You say it was "his house and property." How did the title to the house go to his uncle and dad? Was it given to them before he died? What other property?

This must vary by State. In NY if you pay the funeral expense you don't claim against the estate unless there was an understanding with the deceased. In theory one child could arrange for a funeral with clowns and ponies and charge the estate, leaving the children who wanted something more conservative without an inheritance.
