The dishwasher has always worked without fail till this problem. The child lock light stays on. I cannot cancel it using the instructions in the manual. I did manage once to get the dishwasher going but it stopped during the final rinse. I tried cutting the power for ten minutes to reset, no good.
I called repair and was told it was probably the control panel (new one costs $250) but if not that it could also be the electronic control board. They could not confirm without the correct control panel to test.
Is there anything else I can do?

How did you try to cancel it? Did you try holding the button down until it beeps at you?

Hi!
I held it down for at least 15 seconds and no beep. No matter how long I hold it down, no beep.

Then its possible there is a stuck button. If this is plugged in and you can get to it easily then unplug it for at least overnight and see what happens. If its hardwired then turn off the circuit for overnight if its not providing power to critical things like the fridge.

OK, will try that -- I think I can get the fridge wired via an extension cord.
Thanks,

OK, Power has been off for over 4 hours. This did not reset the control panel, child lock light is still on.

Time to have it checked out. You have done what you could.
