My dog has a very bad rotten fruit like odor! We had taken him to the lake and I noticed it shortly afterward. I thought he had rolled in something, so I gave him a bath. That mellowed it out for a short while and then it was back. I gave another bath after a few weeks and I could still smell it right after. I have found a couple odd scabs on his neck/shoulder area and hip area. He is rarely around other animals, no fights or playing to get the scabs and he does not scratch. I am still wondering about some type of skin infection. Any advice? He is a 4 year old Mal/Husky mix.

It definitely sounds like it is a skin condition of some sort. My first suggestion would be to seek help from your vet.

How ever there are something's you can try at home first. One thing would be to add Omega oils to his diet. You can get capsules for dogs online, from your vet, or from a health food store. You can also add cod liver oil to his diet. Also a tablespoon of plain yogurt in with his food. You can also add some natural grasses to his diet.

See if you can find an anti fungal shampoo and try giving a bath with that. A lot of times strange odors can be cause by yeast infections on the skin.
