Test all under hood and under dash fuses with a test light or multimeter:

Be very thorough, since it will save a lot of time and money. Particularly check the ACG (ALT) (S) fuse in the under dash fuse box. Also, clean the main ECM ground, located on the thermostat housing.

Does the Check Engine Light stay on, when the ignition switch is turned to ON (Position II)?

. Did all under hood and under dash fuses pass inspection, when tested with a test light or multimeter?

. Does the Check Engine Light stay on, when the ignition switch is turned to ON (Position II)?

Ever since I had the car the engine has been on.last year I had to change the hold distributor, then the engine lite with off, then it started coming on again,I could just driving all of a sudden I would feel a hesitation and the lite would come back on.when I start the car again it would off and then do the same thing.

I'm still waiting for you to answer my two questions.

Sorry, but I'm now giving up on this thread.

Did check allunder hood and dash fuses and connections don't have fire to injectors, map, throttle. All fuses are good, engine check engine lite stays on.

Since the Check Engine Light stays on, the problem is with the ACG (ALT) (S) fuse, in the under dash fuse/relay box; ECM (perform the K-Test, below); main relay; or the ignition switch. Perform tests in that order.

The K-Test: Remove the MAP Sensor connector and turn the ignition switch to ON (Position II). Using a multimeter, check for 5 volts going between the MAP Sensor connector's reference wire (+) and ground. As you look at the connector, this is the socket on the right. Really press the black test lead into a cleaned main ECM ground on the thermostat housing. If the voltage is low, it’s probably indicating ECM failure. Most failed ECMs will record a fraction of a volt. To me, the K-Test is simple, elegant, and accurate.

Hi I have a similar problem with my 93 Dx. My fuel pump is getting no voltage, I changed my main relay, but it still gets no voltage. Is there anything else?

Steamboat, check all under dash and under hood fuses with a test light or multimeter. Also, if the CEL stays on when the ignition switch is turned to ON (Position II), the ECM has likely failed and needs to be replaced (common problem).
