Hi,

Started driving my 2003 V6 auto transmission yesterday and went almost nowhere. Could hear the transmission trying to engage, but vehicle acceleration was almost non-existent. Finally managed to crawl back into the garage. Sounded like the old Borg-Warner transmission, from years ago, when bands were 'slipping'.

Problem occurred twice before some 2+ years ago, but for less than a minute, then vehicle behaved as it should, according to my wife.

ATF is at normal level. Is there a filter on the AT that can be replaced that maybe causing this sudden problem?

Thanks.

No filter just screen. This transmission sounds as though it's "stuffed" as you say.

It sounds like the clutch packs are shot. My advice is to get it rebuilt and use full-synthetic ATF, changing it every 30,000 miles.
