Hi everyone. Here's my situation- In the summer of 2009 I started having problems in my right hand with these symptoms;
-My left hand feels light as a feather. While my right hand feels like it weighs twenty pounds. (I noticed this first. Everything else listed developed from summer 09 to now.)
-Aside feeling heavy, the hand feels sluggish. I have difficulty performing some tasks.
-Constant pain every single minute of my life.
-The pain is dull, 2/10 to 4/10 on any given day. More of an annoyance than anything else.
-lifting anything over fifty pounds, or using the wrist itself, i.e. turning a screw driver causes more severe pain. I have difficulty using the hand after the fact without rest. Sometimes while overworked a tingling numbness and loss of sensation begins for a brief time.
-No bruising or signs of injury.
-I unconsciously use my non-dominate hand at all times. (left hand)
Starting a year ago I've made several trips to my general practitioner as this greatly interferes with my life. The hand only became worse. During my most recent appointment last week I suggested RSI. Due to how often I used to write, draw, and use my computer each day. My doctor proceeded to start an angry rant. "You are only twenty three years old. There's no way you have carpal tunnel syndrome. Do yourself a favor and stop wasting both our time. Stop faking it.
I'm a 23 year old aspiring cgi artist from America. I have since dropped out of school completely. As it stands now there is no way I could ever hold a corporate job behind a computer. Let alone a blue collar job out of a factory. I cannot even begin to imagine what would happen to me if this hand becomes worse. I need an unbiased medical opinion from anyone. Anyone at all. Even if its an unqualified complete stranger on the internet. How should I seek medical help from here? What kind of doctor should I see? GP, physical therapist, ergonomist, or chiropractor? What kind of questions should I ask to know if this person is right for the job?
Please help me. Greatly appreciate any response.
