I am caring for my 95 yr old father full time in my home in Pennsylvania. Can I get compensation from the state?

I came across this website after reading your post. It may give you starting point to finding if PA offers remuneration to caregivers of the elderly.

Depending on the circumstances, you may be able to claim him as a dependent on your taxes:

Also, if you are unmarried, depending on circumstances, you also may be able to file as head of household:
Publication 501 (2009), Exemptions, Standard Deduction, and Filing Information (http://www.irs.gov/publications/p501/ar02.html#en_US_publink1000220775)

If you can do one or both of these, you would have more of your income exempt from tax.

Family members to the best of my understanding are not paid by the state, only employed persons and normally employed by accredited home health care firms.

If the family can afford to pay you they may
