I am trying to find out how a model can protect herself from agents, fashion designers and photographers who might want to exploit her. I would also like to know what specific terms must be included in her contract to protect her interest and the laws she can rely on to help protect her.

Laws depend upon where you are.

I found that you hire an agent you trust, someone with a good reputation. You have your contract with that person reviewed by an Attorney in your area. With that agent and contract in place you can't be exploited by fashion designers and photographers.

A business manager is also necessary because you are in danger of being taken advantage of financially.

It is in the interest of your agent (again, someone with a good reputation) to protect you and your career because that person gets a percentage of what you earn.

Are you talking runway, photo, something else?
