There is a Sticky in Electrical and Lighting which goes through the motions of reading the NEC online. NFPA 70 can also be read through the same general links.

Is there a way to download or view the entire 2008 NEC code book for free or for a nominal fee?

Go to:

2008 National Electrical CodeŽ (NEC) (http://www.nfpa.org/catalog/category.asp?category_name=2008+National+Electrica l+Code+%28NEC%29&Page=1&sort=codenum)

Note, there are two pages of options to purchase the NEC NFPA 70.

Keep in mind, there will be a new code issued for 2011.

I do not think what your looking for is available.

NFPA (http://www.nfpa.org) is the only organization to purchase direct from the publisher.

Any other site will either be a legal reseller, or bogus.

Thanks for your answer. I've bit the bullet and ordered a 2008 codebook.

Please tell me the distance requirement for a gfci. How far from the sink or tub, etc. for a gfci NOT to be required?

Any outlet within six feet of a sink or tub must be GFI protected.
