I am trying to get the balance to balance out. I have cash as 18,500, Supplies 8,000, equipment 40,000, accts receivable 10,000 (all assets). Liabilities and Stockholders equity is Accounts payable as 16,000, dividends 7,000, common stock 40,000, and Retained earnings at 27,500. But it doesn't balance. I am not in any class and I am trying to relearn what I was taught many years ago. Where is my logic flawed? To balance I would have to subtract dividends, but I am not sure if this correct. Does anyone see what I am not seeing?

Dividends are NOT a Balance Sheet Item.

The belong to the Expenses side
Of the Income Appropriation Statement.
