View Full Version : Need help with wiring: trane weathertron 239 to hunter 44860 thermostat

Please help with wiring!! Which color where??
I am replacing a trane 239 thermostat with a hunter 44860
the trane thermostat is wired as follows:
G green
O orange
Y yellow
T brown
R red
W white which is also jumped to X2
B blue
U (no wire)
F (no wire)

terminal description for heat pump systems hunter thermostat:
RC/R 24vac power supply
C 24 vac common
Y1 compressor stage 1
Y2 compressor stage 2
W2 auxiliary heat
E emergency heat
O cool mode powered reverse valve
B heat mode powered reverse valve
G fan
L system monitor

Terminal conventional HVAC systems:
Rh heating transformer power supply
Rc/R cooling transformer power supply
C 24vac common (if available)
Y1 cooling stage 1
Y2 cooling stage 2
W1 heating stage 1
W2 heating stage 2
G fan

Hunter brand is a big mistake, they are junk,

If you can I would take it back and get a good honeywell,or WhiteRogers
If it works at all,in 6 months you will be replacing it,(sorry)

Does the noneywell thermostat have better info (diagrams) on wiring?

Note, there is a O,B and T and a TRANE. I'm too tired to deal with it now.

It depends on if you have a heat pump or gas heat furnace. It's mostly color coded. R red power---G green blower fan---Y yellow compressor---W white heat---C common. You can also try pulling off your indoor blower cover there should be a schematic on the inside of that cover.
