Calm down! When your period first starts (and during other times in your life), it can be irregular. You're not pregnant; you don't have cancer. It might start up in a few days, it might not, it might be spotty, it might be gushy -- be patient with your body. The hormones are still trying to figure out how to act.

I think you can, when you are older, I mean 17 year old and 13 you would think GOD NO but imagine is you were 20 and 24, there are 4 years between my mum and dad, but did that stop them, NO! Just wait until he has come back from the army babe, your mum and dad kindaa no what they are talking about and kind of don't LOL! :)

Hi Libby,

I know it can be worrying when your period is not doing what you think it should. Most likely everything is fine.

It is not uncommon at all for periods to be irregular in the first year or two... and even through much of the teen years. You may even skip one here and there.

Have you spoken to your mother, or another trusted adult, about it? Sometimes talking to someone you know can ease your mind.

First off there are many more natural reasons it may not be happening. So try to relax. Since its new to you there may be times when its not like clockwork. Also activity can make a diference. Give yourself a chance to be "normal" (that is your own rhythem). If your really worried about it or if it lasts too much longer then tell your parents and see a doctor just to get checked out.

What does this have to do with anything?

I'm guessing someone has taken over your password and posting privileges, Libby, or you posted in the wrong place.

This will happen as long as you get periods. When you're stressed, when you're newly pregnant, when you're nursing, when you're approaching menopause -- those are some of the times your period will be irregular or spotty or weird somehow. Rarely is a period able to be timed exactly from one month to another throughout a woman's life.
