I've been trying to get pregnant since last December with two miscarriages. I keep having cycles that are longer than 45 days. My last cycle was June 24, 2010. I used a ovulation kit and detected my LH surge just this last Wednesday. What should I do if I can't conceive this time? My current ob/gyn just tells me it is bad luck.

So sorry to hear of your losses.
May I ask your age? It may be just timing, it can take some couples a year or so with active trying. It may be the progressively longer cycles are a sign of infrequent ovulation. Which of course cuts down on the chances of pregnancy.

How often are you using the ovulation kit? When in your cycle do you start testing?

When you became pregnant before, were your cycles shorter?

If no success this time around, you may want to discuss the length of your cycles again with your doctor. If you are older, testing should begin.

I'm 28. I do have a 4 year, but I've remarried since then. I had a little trouble conceiving him, but finally did.

He is wanting a sibling. My husband and I are both wanting a baby. I'm having a harder go at it this time.

I've used an ovulation kit two months in a row. The cycle before this one was completely normal. It was 30 days longs and the LH surged on day 16. This time it has been really off. I've always had problems with irregular cycles. I'm just frustrated right now.

When dealing with irregular cycles, along with the ovulation kits, a guide for when you are likely the most fertile would be to take 18 days off your shortest cycle and 11 days off your longest one. You can see if this time frame goes along with your results on the ovulation kit. Remember that it is just a guide however, so you would still want to watch for signs that your body is preparing for ovulation.

It is frustrating when you are wanting it to happen and it just isn't happening as fast as you would like it to... especially when you have already gotten pregnant twice during this time.

How far along were the pregnancies when you had the miscarriages? At sort of testing done after the second one? Often it is not unless there have been three that testing is done.
