I have a 6" dia pipe that goes down 8ft and then across 20ft, with a snake camera i saw that a 5" steel disc is resting at about the 12ft mark, I need to pull it out, I'm looking for a tool that I can guide in with the snake camera and them clamp onto the disc, I can not escavate as we work in a food plant.

Tks, Dom

Hi Domenic...

Unfortunately they don't make any tool/cable/attachment that you can clamp down on anything with.

I'm pretty sure that your best bet is going to be the retriever head on a cable as KISS posted above.

Here, you'd want to get the cable machine and a large retriever head and EXPAND the retriever head so it say, about 5 inches wide. Then, you'll feed the cable with the expanded retriever head into the drain pipe to about a foot or two before this disk in the ground. Now, send the camera down and work the cable together with the camera until the retriever head spins PAST the disk. Once the retriever is past the head you'll want to pull back on the cable WITHOUT SPINNING The cable. Use the camera and work it together while you're pulling on the cable. 90% of the time, you'll pull the object back pretty easily... ;)

Otherwise, what are the chances of pushing the disc FORWARD out into a larger drain pipe and into the city sewer.. Just a thought.

Back to you..

Don't want to be obvious, but have you considered some kind of magnet attach to the snake camera. You didn't state what kind of pipe you have and might not work if cast iron or steel pipe but then again it might.

How important is to retrieve this item ? If you are only worrying about it being in your sewer - then it is on problem. Put it garden hose, turn it ON full blast and let it run for 1/2 hour. Disk will be pushed to the City sewer and your sewer pipe is clean again...

If the disc is of a value to you and you absolutely have to regain possession of it - than do as other Experts suggested above...

Let us know how you did... Milo
