Please help me identify this spider. I don't believe it's a browse recluse (no violin shape), but its scary and showing up in my house more frequently.

The sac actually looked more grey in real light.

What part of the world was the spider found in? Have you found any webs? This information will help narrow the search.

Taylorsville, Utah. Not really any webs. I found a younger one dead hanging from a string web, but no cob-webs or anything.

Not wanting to get too close to that, vaguely hourglass pattern on back, could that be a black widow? How big is it exactly? I'd squash it in a heartbeat if it was my house.

That looks like an araneus orb weaver, then. I can't be sure of the species from the photo.

Note that while all spiders have venom, they normally don't care to prey on something the size of humans.

I don't think its an orb weaver, body doesn't look quite the same and the colors/designs are way off.

It really looks like a yellow sac, but some of the features don't exactly match up. Any other ideas?

Sack spiders normally don't spin, they're prowlers. If the young one was in a web rather than hanging from it, it may be from thegenusr trachelas. Again there are numerous species in that genus.

i can't believe you are debating over what kind of horrific spider you have RUNNING LOOSE IN YOUR HOUSE. I mean those other guys are just looking at it from a civilized distance via the internet. Smash it, smash it I say!

That's a good way to get bitten.

Like George said, just kill it!

This is not a chat board and an expert has given an opinion - on more than one occasion.

[QUOTE=GeorgeLeigh50 disagrees : you are not contributing anything either, just being argumentative. Start a new question or answer the question it's rude to ignore the OP and talk to others on his question.
