Hello:
Do women do this for beauty, or because walking around with one of those is sexually stimulating?

I don't know Exy... good question.
I can tell you from a medical standpoint that when I see a chick come up to my unit (no, not that unit), in labor that has one, they actually look rather disgusting. Sorry, I guess I'm just old fashioned.

I wonder the SAME thing about nipple piercings.
I look at them and go "OW!!!", so I can't IMAGINE that they are for stimulation---but who the hell thinks that's sexy?

I see these piercings from a different vantage point than most people.
Naval piercings... while they are cute on skinny women look HORRENDOUS on a 9 month pregnant woman.
Nipple piercings... forget breast feedings.
Clitoral piercings... who sees it anyway? The man in the relationship, the labor nurse who tells you to take it out, but you can't because the bar is stuck, then you have to have an emergency C-section and have to have it cut off!
I guess ignorance is bliss.

Hey now... I know my navel piercing isn't as cute on me as it is on skinny chicks, but I still like it!

Sorry, baby, I forgot you had one... but remember the scar tissue when you have to take it out as your belly grows WHEN you become pregnant. ;)

Meh, considering the scar tissue already in the area from my laproscopic surgery last year, I'm not THAT concerned about it.
Besides, I'll give up my navel piercing for a pregnancy :)

Why do men get genital piercings?
I quite frankly see it as a health hazard for either sex.

Hello Syn:
So, does a clitoral post feel good? How about when dancing?

Piercing, depending on whether it is the hood or the actual , can be very exciting during sex or so I am told. It is also pleasurable during the day. I have never seen/played with one in real life but they look kind of funny in porn movies.
Navel piercings tend to look odd depending. They can look good on larger women as long as they're not swallowed up by their tummy. Then it looks like you lost your ear ring in my your belly button. Done right it looks good.
Nipple piercings are a bit of a turn off for me. Though my friend says it heightens the experience and static electricity becomes a very good friend. I have never really understood them.
Call me old fashioned but anything beyond ears and possibly nose piercings look... odd and aren't really a turn on for me. Don't get me started on prince alberts. Oy!

Why do men get genital piercings?Hello Cat:
You got me. I don't LIKE to poke holes in my envelope. In fact, I get kind of frantic when it develops leaks. Besides, I get nervous when sharp things get near my crotch.

I do too. I'll never understand how a man can actually PAY for someone to drive a nail through his little buddy's head. That sounds more like torture to me.
The same goes for my understanding of why a woman would want to pierce her most sensitive body part. I have heard some girls say that it does in fact move around when they walk, giving them pleasure throughout the day. But still...

I have a friend with her hood pierced. She LOVES it. She has this little vibrating ring she can attach to it, and it drives her wild.
Still isn't enough to convince me to try it.
Of course, I feel that way about tongue and eyebrow and nose and lip piercings, too.
It took being drunk to get my belly button done, and I have 2 holds in each earlobe. That's quite enough for me, thanks!

Eeeeeek! I'm sitting with my legs tightly crossed for the next week just at the thought of it.
A girl who I used to work with had a nipple done and came and showed us all in the staffroom. Her boob was very bruised and swollen, put me off for life. The guys seemed to find it interesting but then having someone get the boobies out in the tea break was probably a most unexpected perk of the job that day!

My mother has always said, "If God had wanted you to have a hole there, He would have put it there Himself."

Umm didn't he? Or at least in the general vicinity? <eg>
But yeah piercings are a huge turn off for me. Even ears don't do much for me. To me its simply self-mutilation.

In this case my predeliction for BDSM is in conflict with my (out of date) medical training. I find them as sexy as a collar and for much the same reason, but only for women who go into the studio fully informed and consenting.
As for scar tissue, don't the aftercare instructions tell you how to minimize that, like they do with ears?

I've had my lip, tongue, nose, belly button and two holes in each ear. My husband has his ear and eyebrow pierced and also used to have his nipples pierced for years but they started getting infected so he took them out and let them close. I have a friend who got her hood pierced.
I suppose it all just comes down to personal preference, regardless of the position.
And yes, I took my belly ring out when I was 4-5 months pregnant - surprisingly, it slid right back in after my daughter was born.
And to QLP - whoever pierced that girl's breast is a moron. It should NOT be bruised. I knew a girl who went to get her tongue pierced and it was all swollen and bruised because she kept trying to pull her tongue back in her mouth and the piercer put the clamp on waaaay too tight. My sister talked like a moron for about 2-3 days after getting hers due to swelling; I was eating chicken wings about 20 minutes after mine :) Everyone reacts differently but bruising is not "normal"

A guy I work with had one of his nipples pierced. Young guy, into the latest thing out. He and his girlfriend's younger brother were wrestling, and his nipple got ripped off. He had to go to the doctor for "nipple reconstruction". No thanks.

Nipples. Prince Alberts. Clits. Dermals. Tongues. Cheeks. Heck I've seen it all. Hell yesterday a guy showed me this (stupid) piercing he got between his left thumb and index finger! That fleshy part of the skin.
The average answer I get is "because I thought it'd be cool" or "I just felt like it".

All I can say is they look HOT in most cases... can't comment beyond that as I'm a guy. But Nipple and clitoral piercings are a real turn on as far as I'm concerned.
No they aren't the same as a Prince Albert... those go through the pee hole too. There are no equivalent women's piercings I have seen comparible to that one.
