View Full Version : Should I bring this up again? Am I over-reacting?

My girlfriend of 3 months recently just went to a big 4 day concert with her friends where everybody tents & drinks and stuff. I had to work so didn't come. We texted/talked on the phone a couple times while she was there and everything was fine.

When she got back I was out of town but we were talking on the phone and she started (out of nowhere) saying something similar to "Remember that Shaun guy who (blahblahblah)? He was there this weekend. He tried to kiss me one of the nights even though he knew I had a boyfriend. I told him that and he stopped. Sorry I just have a big consience and I thought I should tell you." She seemed pretty nervous about telling me about this and I don't get how her consience should be involved at all if it was seriously nothing.

Do you think she cheated on me? Do you think they kissed at all before they stopped? Why would she bring this up? It almost seems like she wanted to cover it up before anything 'got out'. Am I over-reacting or should I bring this up again when we are face-to-face (I'm still away on work).

We've been dating 3 months and everything seemed to be going good before.

Yes, I think you are over-reacting. Since there were lots of people there who may have witnessed Shaun's boorish behavior, your girlfriend wants to let you know from her that it was no big deal before you hear it from someone else and then freak out--and accuse her of not telling you.

I'd say let it go, but if she "confesses" again and again about guys trying to maul her, you may have a problem. If that happens, remind us of this incident and tell us what she's now "confessing" to you.

Meanwhile, don't let this bother you. She was probably acting in self-defense toward both Shaun and toward possible gossipers.

Many women have been raised with the belief that if someone tries to do something to them such as kiss them that it is their fault. They must have done something to lead the male on. She may be over thinking the event or worried that Shaun is going to tell you a different story just to make trouble.

As Wondergirl said, let this one go, but pay attention to trends.

Good advice all around.

Yes, had she not told you and someone else told you about his attempt, you would have then been upset she did not tell you.

A relationship has to be based on friendship, communication and trust. If you are not talking to her about things, and if you can't trust her, then your relationship will never last.
