I need a new r22 condenser and the installer said I should do it this year because they will not sell the r22 in 2011. And that next year I will need to replace everything (?) and it will cost app. $5,000. He want $1,200 to do it this year, this includes the condenser part.

There are no r-22 units being made, the only way you can get one is if some one has stockpiled them. So yes if you want the 22 get it now.
