My dog was locked up but got out and mated with another. It's been a week now and I would like to know if anyone out there knows anything about the abortion shots they give dogs. I read somewhere that they cause major problems in dogs after. Has anyone done it and if so what was the results. Does your dog have kidney/liver problem or cancer? Do you recommend it? How long is is good for and how much did it cost? She was to get neutered,but now I think she might be pregnant, since she mated. Is there some kind of safe home remedy to give her to get rid of the eggs before they turn into puppies to get rid of them if she is pregnant? Also does anyone know if you could use a regular pregnancy test to test a dog to see if she is pregnant?

The shot they give is only effective 48 hours after the mating.

You can however book her in for an emergency spay. There is no more risk than spaying any other time if you get in now and do it.

You can take her in to get spayed an tell then that you think she is pregnant. I seen that get done when I was doing work experance in high school. There are no issues or anything different if you were to get her spayed with out pups inside her except there may be a bit more bleeding but nothing serious
