Motor ran for a few seconds, it backfires every now an then, will kick over every now and then, also drags and locks up most of the time after you let off the starter. You have to manual roll back the engine then it rolls smooth, has good compression, hard to roll it through it. Cleaned carb bowl, float works, took the valve cover off, valves seem OK and are working. I'm thinking now maybe fly wheel sheer pin. I'm going to look at that in the morning during day light. I've poored gas into the carb, and runs for a sec sometime, sometimes nothing. Any ideas or input?

Well, got the flywheel off, and sheer pin or half moon keeper was sheered. Got it back together, still want start now, got it to back fire once. Changed plug getting fire, but I don't think its enough fire. Think the flywheel is not down far enough? No bent rods. Got the valve cover off too. Any ideas

Hi,
Sounds as if you have a Kohler Command engine. Are you sure you tightened the flywheel enough or did not push the key out of its slot during the reassembly process?
Peace,
Clarke
