My 95 Honda Civic ate its timing belt... I pulled it into the garage and proceeded to dismantle everything needed to change the belt. Followed Haynes manual. I replaced seals, belts, valve cover gasket, spark-plug tube o-rings, well, the works. I made sure that when the crankshaft pulley key was at 12 o'clock, the camshaft was with the distributor rotor pointing to the number 1 position. Put everything back together. Won't start! Getting spark, got gas. Gettting a number 19 code from the ECM (Lock-up solenoid valve). Checked the resistance of the solenoid valve. Good. The connection seems good. At a loss. What does this solenoid valve do? HELP!! :confused:

You have a problem with the Lock-up Control Solenoid Valve A (or B) circuit going to the automatic transmission. The solution will likely be to replace the lock-up control solenoid valve or the ECM.

Perform the K-Test to see if your ECM is OK.


See if this agrees with how you installed the timing belt:

On the D15B7 and D15B8 engines:

1. Set the crankshaft so that the No. 1 piston is at top dead center (TDC). Align the groove on the teeth side of the timing belt drive pulley to the arrow pointer on the oil pump.

2. Align the TDC marks on the camshaft pulley with the cylinder head upper surface.

Thanks for the answer. When I replaced the timing belt I set the crankshaft to no. 1 TDC by placing a long screw driver in the no. 1 hole and watching it come to its topmost point. This coincided with the notch on the crank (pulley key) being at the 12 o'clock position. The camshaft pulley was placed with its marks aligned with the cylinder head surface. I also checked that the rotor in the distributor was at the no. 1 position. Still, the damn thing won't start. Will perform all the checks in your link.

I got a 92 civic and I get code 19 too but mine starts it's the lock up selenoid but I also got other codes about fuel supply I think that code is coming from that lock up selenoid I think its some where on the tranny if you change it and it might start I don't know everything about hondas but I know a lot
