My wife and I got married. She is from the Philippines. We started to have marriage problems. She told me she was already married in the Philippines. How can I find out if she is telling the truth. She has a friend that works for a judge high in the court system. Her friend could have had someone remove any record of the fact. I ask, because if there ends up to be no evidence of the marriage, she would be able to sue me.

First of all you can contact the place where she from and ask if she's married. (we call it municipal hall.provincial hall or city hall) And if she's married in the philippines before you marry her, your not even legally married at all. You can sue her and if it turns out that she got divorce, make sure that the date that they got divorce is not a date when you are already married, it is possible for her to go to jail, specially when you tell immigration that you didn't know until you got marriage problem.she can be in jail for a long time if your in the military too, because she give them fake documents about her and they can say that she might be a terrorist for all the lie that she saying.. I hope that this info help you.dont hesitate to ask again,, by the way I'm a pilipina too, sorry if someone from my country do something like this.have a bless day

There is no such thing as Philippine Divorce. The marriage entered into by the filipina here in the US is still null and void even if she divorced her husband in the Philippines. The only way to terminate marriage in the Philippines is by annulment
