My husband was weed eating around outside AC unit & accidentally got wead eater wrapped around & pulled on wire that comes from AC unit. There is only 1 wire & I think it is either brown or gray (if that matters) The wire is not cut, slit, disconnected or have any visible damage. We have taken off the side panel to look at other 'block' where all of other wires are connected & nothing looks disturbed. We have turned breakers on & off, have have 'unplugged' the "disconnect" on the side of our house, have checked the furnace in the attic, looked for an in-line fuse on wires, looked on the unit for a reset button. Our thermostat initially went blank when this happened, but now the screen is on after batteries were added. We can change the settings on it, but the AC never kicks on & the fan doesn't come on at all. Our house was built in 2009, so our unit is very new. The brand is Amana & is a 14 SEER. Please help if anyone can.

What Hubby hit was the low voltage control wire between the furnace and the compressor unit. He probably broke one or more wires inside the sheathing. If the sheathing (outer covering) does not appear damaged, run the wire between your thumb and fore finger, pressing hard, you can probably feel the break. Strip back the sheathing a few inches, reconnect wires. Each wire will be a different color. Tape each spliced wire with electrical tape and then tape the sheathing.
