A number of my teeth are wearing down and my dentist tells me this is due to grinding at night. I even got a root canal on one this week. One of my upper tooth has started to get a small erosion (I don't know how since it's not the surface contact) and is really sensitive. Brushing my teeth hurts. :( I need to get fillings and crowns and it will cost me a lot. Not sure if I have a question, just thought typing it might help.

Are you using toothpaste for sensitivity like Sensodyne? There is also ProNamel that helps slow down the erosion process.

No, but since you mentioned it, I'll have to check it out. Thank you!

Make sure you are also using a toothbrush that is extra soft. Sensodyne makes a great toothbrush for sensitive teeth!

You can get a guard that you can wear at night for teeth grinding.

Yes KISS, a nightguard would certainly help!
Also... to prevent erosion, watch the foods and drinks you consume. Juices, wine, citrus fruit, pineapple, pop, and sour gummy candy are all culprits in causing tooth erosion. If you do consume these items, wait at least 15 minutes before brushing your teeth after having any of these. If you brush right after eating/drinking these items the enamel has softened and brushing will wear it away. Vomiting can also cause erosion, never brush your teeth right after, just rinse with water. Acid reflux is another cause. Stomach acids come in to the mouth (often when you sleep) and erode the molars.
Sorry I missed all this in my first post.:o
