Am from India. Am here in US on B1 business Visa.
My Passport needs to be renewed. Can I get it renewed in Indian Consulate in US though am on Business VISA.

Sounds unusual to me because:

1. To be able to obtain US visa and enter the country, your passport must be valid, at least 6 months.

2. When enter US with B1 visa, the maximum stay allowed is 6 months, which sometimes less than 6 months depending on immigration officer.

I understand that your passport will be expired soon but not before visa expiration date, if this is correct, you will have no problem leaving US as long as your passport is not expired. For example, if your passport expired on July 30 but your are returning on July 28, it's OK.

If you get 10 years multiple entry, it does not mean you can stay in US for 10 years. Max term for B1-B2 is 6 months, or depending on the immigration officer.

Thanks for the info. My Passport expires on Sep 12 and I will be leaving US on Aug 4th. But what I wanted to know was can I get my Indian passport Renewed here when am here on a B1 Visa?
AS to get it renewed in India it might take longer time for renewal. In US it gets done in 1 day on paying extra fees.

Contact Indian Consulate for accuracy about your passport. If you plan to fly domestic during this time, you need your passport.
