No you can't reduce belly fat by eating fruits. Fruits have a lot of glucose, sugar. Balanced diet with proper exercise will reduce all over, therefore reducing belly fat.

Fruit has a part in a healthy diet, but fruit contains quite a lot of calories (most apples are close to 100 cals, bananas are usually more) and they contain fructose.
Fructose in an interesting sugar, because it gets broken down by the liver, rather than causing a flood of insulin. But the down side of this is that if your liver already has enough glycogen (and it usually does) it can store the fructose directly as fat.
Ideally, eat fruit when your glycogen levels are low. That means either first thing in the morning, or after exercise.
Reducing or cutting rice and pasta is a good idea, but replace them with lots of green vegetables.

Diet alone will not do it. Having an active lifestyle is a must to lose weight in a healthy way.

30 minutes of exercise 3 times a week should be enough to get you started.
That's only an hour and a half!
If you have not exercised in a long time a trip to the doctor to get the all clear may be in order, and also ideas on how to reduce your calorie intake safely.
Back to the exercise... its easy to do,and you don't have to go far, some cardio is ideal example,skipping.. a skipping rope is cheap and cheerful and you only have to go outside your back yard.

There are plenty of exercises you can do right in your office and at your desk as well. Be creative. Get yourself moving.

It's even been shown that exercise broken into segments helps. You could do some in the morning, some during your lunch hour, and some when you get home. You mentioned playing with your boy - make it something active and he'll have fun and benefit also. I'm also assuming you get 2 days off each week - do something on those two days that is fun and active. The thing about being active is you end up with more energy, and it will encourage even more activity. Find something you enjoy doing.
