I Have a Ryobi strimmer which will not start, new plug and now a new carb. No Joy. I notice that when the fuel priming bulb is presses no fuel comes out from anywhere on the carb even when it is removed from the machine. I would have expected to see fuel coming from the little hole above the main throat. This little hole lines up with a hole and a gallery on the engine so I think it should be a priming line and the system is blocked. Any Ideas?

Did you replace both fuel lines and the clunker filter? The bulb could be cracked and leaking but normally you would easily notice that

Hi,
The purge/primer has two check valves that often get gummed up and stop working.

I didn't replace the lines, why would I have to do that. Are they breaking up and blocking the new carb just like the old was?

The Bulb is brand new. Should fuel squirt from the carb when the bulb is pressed. I mean from the hole above the carb throat? With the carb removed nothing appears when the bulb is pressed, a mystery

Hi,
The most common orientation for it is for the carb to be connected to the fuel filter, the suction side of the purge connects to the other side of the carb(metering) and pulls gas through the carb and the discharge side of the purge dumps it back in the tank.
Peace,
Clarke

Response to post #4. When I repair a carb, or install a new one like you I always replace the fuel lines. They only last a few years and start to disintergrate.
