Okay, so I just moved into a basement apartment and I see four or five spiders per day just hanging out in my house! I kill every one I see but they keep coming back. I'm not really afraid of spiders but I don't like them hanging out in my house. Is there a way to get rid of them? I've heard many differing opinions from "use spider traps" to "no".
Thanks!

If the spiders are web-spinners, the fastest way to be rid of them is continuously sweeping down the webs. The webs are to catch food. No web - no food - soon no spider.

If they are hunting spiders, again you will have to get rid of the food source. Roaches, ants, beetles, and other crawling organisms are the prey in this case.

If you don't wish to use pesticides for the prey, lots of elbow grease and cedar or eucalyptus oil cleansers will get the job done. (I include ammonia and chlorine cleansers among pesticides)

There is no way to eliminate spiders from a basement immediately. Housekeeping like you're OCD is the fastest way, and generally healthier all around.

You can actually get a spider spray, that you can spray across any opening i.e... windows, doors etc.. and they will not cross it.

They usually hang out in the darkest place, like the corners of the room, behind furniture and so on, so you could try a little spray behind those.
