My newer Bryant plus 80 T gas furnace would not start the flame when it was connected to my emergency generator during an ice storm that caused the commercial power to go out. Is this a result of the poor power quality of the emergency generator which messed up the electronic circuits of the furnace and if wo is there an easy fix?

Generac makes an automatic transfer switch one that is outdoor rated and one that is indoor rated with all the different circuit breakers built right in. It wouldn't take too much rewiring to make it work with most any generator. They are a little costly though.

Can someone explain how the igniter works? Ie, is it a hot surface igniter or a spark?
