Hellos :)

I am starting the pill for the first time. I know I'm supposed to wait for the first day of my next period before taking the first pill but I am really impatient and was wondering what would happen if I were to take the first pill before my period starts.

*if I do start taking Levlen ED from the first day of my period how long before I am protected and how long before I can say I'm protected if I start early?
*If i take the levlen ED early would i be less likely to fall pregnant if iwere to have sex before my next period than if i didnt start at all?
Thank you for your time:)

Okay, there are reasons that you are to take start taking the pill on the first day of your period. That is why it is prescribed this way. It mainly has to do with hormone levels and your cycle. You need to keep your cycle as it is, so you begin on the first day of your period to stay regular.

That said, many pills offer protection at different levels. The safest recommendation is that you are not protected for your first month of pills. Many will say that you are protected after a week or two weeks, but this information varies from person to person. So you can consider yourself protected after one month. That is just the safest way to go. That is why doctors recommend that you use a second form of protection for the first month.

Also understand that the pill is not 100% effective. You have to take it every day without fail and at the same time every day to reach maximum effectiveness. However, no matter how perfect we are in taking the pill, some women will still become pregnant. I, for one, took the pill religiously and still got pregnant with my 2 oldest sons.

Please take your pill as prescribed.
