I just want to know how to figure out the answer for this question, not the actual answer itself. Any help is appreciated.
Two items are omitted from each of the following three lists of cost of goods manufactured statement data. Determine the amoutn of the missing items, identifying them by letters.
W-I-P, 12/1 2,000 12,000 (e)
Total Manufacturing costs in December 14,000 (c) 70,000
Total Manufacturing costs (a) 140,000 76,000
W-I-P 12/31 3,000 30,000 (f)
Cost of Goods manufactured (b) (d) 62,000

That is really hard to read. But it goes something like this:

Beginning Balance
+ Current Month Mfg Costs**
= Total Mgf Costs
- Cost of Goods Manufactured**
= Ending Balance

** The costs that go into this account are direct materials, direct labor and overhead. Make sure you know all three.
Cost of Goods Manufactured means that which is finished and has moved out of the WIP account and moved on to the Finished Goods account, so remove that, it leaves you an ending balance.

If you have missing numbers, plug in what you have, and work backwards to find the missing one.
