How can you be sure that the check sent to you is real?

Who sent you the check?

Did someone owe you money?

Take the check to your bank. They can tell you if a check is real and whether the account it is drawn on has funds to cover it.

There is a strong likelihood that it is not good. Explain the situation to the bank and they can check with the bank it was drawn on. If they allow you to deposit the check give it a month or more before you try to use the funds, and then check with the bank to be positive the check has cleared.

Are you suppose to send any of that money to someone else, if that answer is yes, then it is fake normally,

You can deposit the check, not spend a penny of it, and most certainly not send any of it to anyone for "winning"

Then in about 3 months if the check has not came back, it may be safe
