I was looking to buy one of the electronic books that are out. There's the Kindle reader, the eReader and the iPad. I don't know if all of these are the same but I want one lol.

People from where I live don't seem to know where I can get these from, at least from somewhere where I can put it on layaway.

If anyone has any information on this device or where I can put it on layaway at, please let me know.

Ebooks are no cheaper than paper books, though there is free ebook content to be found.

And that is why I was hoping to get info on if anyone know if there are any places that sell them that also have layaway. Christmas gift. Not something I am going to get right away

Yeah. Problem is, I just can't seem to find a place that do have them with layaway.

The problem is that online stores likely will not offer you that option. We were looking into the Kobo which is sold at Chapters/Indigo stores which may offer the layaway option. I find that layaway is a financing plan that is rapidly evaporating.

K-Mart and Walmart still offer layaway plans. Both should sell the Sony and Barnes and Noble readers.

Yes, layaway seems to be going the way of green stamps & free toasters for opening up an account at a bank. Not that I am old enough to remember such things. *cough*

HPotato, if this is for Christmas, then just start researching online, reading as many different reviews as possible, frequently check the sites selling them and keep your eyes open for any bargains between now and then.

At the rate electronic & computer "toys" are coming out, by Christmas we might see a Kindle 10.2 or Ereader 5000 and you will be able to pick up a first generation bookreader for next to nothing. Okay, maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part. Worth a shot.

Kindle is an Amazon product, so you can find it on any of the Amazons - .com, co.uk, etc.
You can find the Nook at any Barnes and Noble.

Thanks Scott Gem. I didn't know Kmart had them there. Our Walmart here stopped doing layaways years ago!! Sucks too cause Walmart was the when they had layaway lol!

I recently bought Kobo eReader and I am extremely happy with the purchase. It cost me $170 total (free shipping) from Chapters/Indigo website. Very simple to use and you buy the books from the Kobo website.

Kobo is a competitor to the Kindle from Amazon so no.

Not sure where you are but I'm in Canada and bought the ereader through chapter.indigo.ca. Check out kobobooks.com. It is quite worth it.

That's not a bad deal.

The $149 Nook has only Wi-Fy capability. For many folks that is fine. If you want to be able to download when away from a Wi-Fy hotspot, then the version of Nook that does that, through a 3-G network (like Kindle does), is $199.
