I'm planning on going into psychology after high school. What college's in southern Michigan do you recommend? I really want to go to Oakland University, but I am not positive I will get in, you know? So I want a few back up colleges. Also, all you psych students/people in the career.. What do you recommend I take my senior year, which is next year? (Besides Psychology, that's a no brainer!) Thanks to all that help!

Physical sciences. Chemistry, microbiology, anatomy and physiology if possible. Psychology is moving rapidly into a brain (versus mind) based study. Even if you prefer the more psychodynamic aspects you will require a strong foundation in the somatic just to be conversant in the near future.

My only thought(being in the field) is make sure the school of Psych, social work, counseling, etc (all of them in the school) is accredited! You can not get licensed or get some jobs if you get a degree from a school that is not accredited. I would see if all of the similar fields are also accredited because you may change fields, like I did. So that is the one thing that WILL effect you in the future!
