Hi,
If it has never been removed, you may well need one of those expensive, non-flammable sprays to get it to fall free. Some are NutCracker, Larch Supply, Lawson, etc. They are pricey, but work incredibly well.
At any rate unplug the electrical connector and remove the bolt in the center of the clutch (5/8" or 16mm socket) after removing the primary deck belt. If it does not fall free, then one of the those sprays is called for. Spray above the clutch at the crankshaft and allow to soak a few minutes. After a few minutes of soak time, take a hammer and strike the clutch in an upward motion next to the hole where it bolts on. With proper soak time, I have always had them try to fall on my head by the third blow.
Those sprays do cost from $7-12 per can, but are well worth it. Have yet to see any of the three named fail. Be sure to apply anti-seize or at least a small bit of grease before reinstalling. Mind the keyway/key as well. Sanding a rusty crank with fine sandpaper/emory cloth does not hurt either.
Peace,
Clarke
