Please help... both the frige and freezer parts are not cooling. The temperature on both sides continue to increase. Last check, it was at 79 degrees. Had to unplug the unit.

90% of the time the problem is the main control board. Are the fans running? If the fans are running the compressor should be running as well. Pull the refrigerator out and take off the bottom panel at the rear of the refrigerator. Is the compressor hot or cold to the touch. If it is hot I recommend you call for service. If it is cold try unplugging the refrigerator and wait a few minutes and plug it back in. We are trying to reset the refrigerator just like a computer. Did the compressor start? If it did give it a good half hour and see if the freezer is starting to cool. If the compressor just seems to be dead it is probably not being supplied voltage to run via the motherboard. Repairclinic.com has a no hassle return policy on parts.

Applianceman,
I have taken out the back panel; vacuumed the dust around the fan. I then plugged it back in. The fan works and the compressor is cold to the touch. What else could be causing it not to cool. When I turn the freezer temp down to zero and refrigerator to 37 degrees, they both automatically resets to 79 degrees. Is this a much bigger problem or is there anything else I should try? Thanks for your help

troopers protect, but you could try PROATEQ... Sounds to me like something is wrong on the inside... You in Troop C NJ? If so, a free repair is on me... 903278. The 79 degrees is just a readout or did you put a thermometer in the cabinet?
