View Full Version : 1988 nissan pathfinder door lock problem
88 pathfinder

I have a 1988 nissan pathfinder se. and my key won't unlock my door. The reason is because inside of the door there is a pice of plastic with two sharp ends poking out the sides. And what that does is pushes into a round metal piece which pulls up the lock when the key is turned. However the one for my locks is broken... the sharp two sharp edges broke off... now I was wondering do you know what that piece is called and how I can get a new one?

I would, first, try a local junkyard for the piece.
If that doesn't work, check with your local body shops.
If all fails, try to find a body shop or dealer that knows or deals with a company called Auveco (I may not have the spelling correct) that sells connectors.
By the way, have you checked at the Nissan parts counter?
I have been known to "show them" the part I needed on their own computer...
Just my humble opinion...

That part is only sold as part of an assembly (called a door lock actuator) which costs $160.00 at the dealer

Hi... did you ever find a solution? I have same problem but on BOTH doors. So now I cannot lock the pathfinder which is barely worth $700... and certainly don't want to pay $320 for two new lock actuators. I wouldn't mind paying $20 if you have some other solution that isn't a wheel/brake lock. Thanks T
