I built a 26x30 detached garage and would like to run water from my house to the garage. Weather here in the winter gets quite cold. What is the best way to run water so it does not freeze in the winter. I am going from the side of my house to the garage which is about 40 feet away. What would be the best size plumbing to use.

Bury then new line just as deep as the waster service coming into your house. It must be below the frost line. A 3/4" pipe should be enough to fill all your needs, Good luck, Tom

Is the garage heated? If not water would have to be turned off in winter. Pitching to the low side with a drain valve will remove water in line for winter.
If going from a heated area to a heated area the pipe has to be below frost line. 3/4'' should be large enough as a feed.
