BEWARE BANANA PEELS

I had a notion of perpetual motion as I prepared to glide
Quite daintily across the porch to see what lay outside.
As my foot did softly fall upon the stoop that day
I quit the house and merrily proceeded on my way.

I started intent to scoff at foolishness displayed
By everyone save for me but soon became dismayed.
A sage I'm not but even so tis folly I surmise
To walk about disdainfully would surely not be wise.

For as I searched to find such fault among my fellow man
A cat leaped out followed close by Baskerville's deadly clan.
I came up short and did cavort with one banana peel.
The peel and I then lurched about with zest or was it zeal?

We tripped the light fantastic my partner Peel and I.
A spectacle indeed we made for every passerby.
Gravity did have it's way and harshly I did fall
Upon the ground in one fell swoop and dear me that's not all.

Six pairs of eyes were fixed on me and stared quite thunderstruck.
At my landing in the mud and also in the muck.
As I rose prepared to flee a thought occurred to me.
I'd left the house at dawn that morn to see what I could see.

What fun I had chastising mistakes that people make.
Haughtily observing for my own amusement's sake.
But things can change and when they do the tables start to turn.
To bring the mighty tumbling down to reap what they did earn.

Alas twas I who'd played the fool amusing one and all.
My antics they all witnessed and eventual downfall.
My exit was not graceful, it had no form or style
But entertained and pleased the crowd eliciting a smile.

So if you are a know it all above of all the rest
Be careful how you judge the world or you may face the test.
Don't be the one finding fault, judgmental as can be
But look for good in all of life or end up just like me.
