View Full Version : Ghostly growl?

Hello there, I'm hoping someone can help me here...
Okay, I have pretty much always been a sceptic when it comes to paranormal anything and tend to believe that everything has a logical explanation. Although I have heard strange noises and experienced a few odd happenings in my life, I have never really read too much into it.
Recently, I started work in a pub and like most pub jobs I have had, the staff always fill me in with gossip about the pub spirits (not the drinks, haha) and told me that this pub is rife with activity. So, being my sceptical self, I just thought, 'OH, well that doesn't bother me.' And so I would go in the cellar to change a barrel as no one else liked to go in there.
Anyway, recently things have started to happen around me which are changing my views slightly. I have seen shadows which have come from nowhere (as in not made by curtain movements or lights etc) and the strangest one was that whilst sat in an upstairs room in the pub alone, I have heard a very angry growl come from 'something' in the middle of the floor. Inow seem to be growled at frequently when I enter that room. The pub has no dog living there and the surrounding buildings are empty so there are no dogs round about to explain this odd noise. Can anyone with a bit of paranormal insight tell me what I am experiencing? I do believe we can pick up noises from the past, but that's about as much as I believe...
Thank you, Leanne

For one thing its always a good idea to examine the surrounding area before jumping to conclusions. Many bars and eteries have double swinging door (they swing both ways). And a light breeze can move them. They are notoriose for "growling" when they move very little. Also vibrations from nearby cars etc can caus problems. You could also record the sounds and see if you catch anything. In basements stray electrical fields can cause any number of experiences to occur when there is actually nothing going on. Examine the areas around you and see what you find.

Thank you for your reply.
The room I hear the growling in is the very top room of the pub. There are two flights of stairs to rech that particular room and there is one room below it which is empty. The rest of the upstairs rooms are in a different part of the pub. Basically, the sprcific noise I hear comes from the same spot and although I understand what you are saying, there really is no other direction it can come from, as like I said the bulidings next to it are empty. The history of the pub is that it used to be a prison. A bit further down the street is a police station (which is still used as a police station.)And years ago, the pub, police station and a few other buildings nearby were all connected by an underground tunnel system. The tunnels have been blocked uo for years and years as obviously there is no use for them anymore as it's now a pub and not a prison! So the street behind the pub, as you can imagine, is an old cobbled road. Which is always empty once the pub is shut and deserted. The room I hear the noises in is facing this quiet street, so that's why I feel there is no real explanation to the growls...

Then grab a tape recorder and let it record. See what comes on it. There can be many explinations for it. Its hard to say without looking at everything. Are there any roof vents like the turbine kind? A slight breeze can make it turn slightly and caus that same sound.
