Hello,
I wish to apply for a Portuguese passport.
I am currently an Australian citizen with an Australian passport.
My parents were born in Dili, East Timor in 1945 & 1951. They have copies of their birth certificates stating their Portuguese names.
They are now also Australian citizens and holders of Australian Passports but under their Western names.
When they migrated to Australia in 1974, their Timorese IDs were seized and this is when they took on their western names thus having no documents saying that their Portuguese and western names are the same person.
Do you think it is possible for me to obtain my Portuguese passport?
My little sister was granted one only because she is under the age of 18.
Why is it different law for over 18s?
