I'm not sure how much you know already but I do have a very good link in my bookmarks to send you to.
It is long but very detailed and should help you out with most questions you may have.
Breeding, Whelping, and Rearing Puppies (http://www.k9web.com/dog-faqs/medical/whelping.html)

Things to check off your list...
Have you been feeding your b*tch puppy food?
Do you have a whelping box constructed and a heat lamp?
Do you have your vets after hours number handy?
Do you have whelping equipment (towels, scissors, cotton etc)?

I know you probably don't want to hear it but I'll say it for future reference and anyone else that might read this, you should never, ever, ever breed from a merle. The merle gene is actually a defective one in Danes, and can cause many health issues. When 2 merles are bred together the puppies simply will not survive.
Not to mention it is a fault in the breed, if it's a disqualification (whether it be coat color, or conformation) that dog should be desexed and go in the 'no good for breeding' pile.
