I have full custody of my two children. Does my ex husband have the right to take my children for vacation out of take without my permission? He lives in VA. But he asked this summer if he could take the kids to TX to visit there grandparents. I said OK for the visit with the grandparents. But when I asked him for a phone number and address where the kids would be he told me a city 8hrs from the grandparents house. And now he is ignoring my email request for an address. Our aggrement states visits can take place in CT or VA where he lives. Do I have to let them go?

FYI He only vists the children once a year. His choice. And calls them once in a blue moon.

If your agreement states that visits can only take place in CT or VA, and you have full physical custody, then you have the right to know where the children will be and have a point of contact. I believe, if you refuse to let the children travel without knowing this information, it would be upheld in court.

I do have full and physical custody. I just want an address and to know that my kids will be safe. I don't want to impeed on his visitation with the kids because he chooses to only visit them once a year. But he seems to be purposesly avoiding telling me where he is REALLY taking them. And that worries me.

Please be careful using this site. The operators are experimenting with a new interface that can be confusing at times. I assume you didn't mean to disagree with my answer but pressed the Reply button rather than answering the question.

I think you are being perfectly reasonable and understandable. Like I said, you have every right and responsibility to know where your children are. He could have avoided the problem by not being secretive.
