Trying to remember the title or author of a very good crime novel I read last year. The plot involved a famous architect killed by a proxy of a middle-aged assassin who dreamed of making his own wine and had a young female assistant he was in love with. The actual killer was an up and coming assassin, an arrogant jerk. A latino wannabe gang kid was framed for the murder. There was an older cop (grizzled vet, name was Dunnegan? Dooley?). The case started in Chicago (I think) but moved to Los Angeles and a matron of the architect's family had a crush on the older cop. The younger one ends up in a showdown with the assassin in his vineyard in the northern part of California. For the life of me, I remember the entire book but not the name or author! Can anyone help?
