The compressor on my AC unit fails to engage. I recently changed the fan motor which came with a dedicated capicator, this left the compressor with the original capicator. This capicator has three crows feet plug points. It origionally controlled both the compressor and the fan. Changing the fan and using the dedicated capicator that came with the fan, left the original capicator with only 2 wires, red and yellow. The yellow wire comes from the compressor and is connected to one leg of the 4 prongs of the 3 available positions, on the original capicator. There red wire comes from the #2 line in tang, to the original capicator, it attaches (red)to one of the legs of the 3 positions. Since using the new fan and dedicated capicator, the compressor has failed to engage. All connections to the original capacitor are as they were before any disassembly occurred, regarding compressor wiring. I need to know if the wiring is correct, or if change is necessary.

If you didn`t remove wires and it worked before it should be OK, its possible the capicitor is bad, if you don`t have a cap tester some times a visual check will help,, does the top bulge up? Popped up like a frozen soda can? If so its time to replace with anexact match

Also check the wiring where it attaches to the compressor. This is a known area of problems.
