Hello askmehelpdesker,
Anyone know how to set up the background on the tank. I'm not sure if it goes on the inside or the outside. Also my heating element doesn't have numbers on the dial, so its either on or off. My budget right now is rather low or else I would have bought a better one. Also I need to get a tank themometer as well as a testing kit for the properties; if anyone has advice on setting up the tank please let me know so I don't end up killing everything!

Backgroud goes on the back.
You need a thermometer - strive for 76F (72-80)
The heater should have a light when it's on, so when it turns on is just above the tank temperature. I never liked the static it made on the AM radio. So, 40 yrs ago I built a solid state controller. No noise.

Chlorine remover drops or let stand 24 hrs.

PH test kit and chemicals.

Remember to remove some of the tank water monthly and replace. (adjust temp PH and remove chlorine first)

Would you know a chlorine remover that you would recommend that's not too expensive

No, been to long. You typically use 1 drop per gallon.

How frequently should I be changing certain amount of water?

For the first while you should change it often, when I set up my 30 gallon I changed 1/3 of the water every week (I also had over 100 guppies, so it needed to be cleaned! But that is what I read works on a few different sites)
