I own a Hunter ceiling fan that's about 10 years old. It's a 4 wire, 3 speed fan with a light kit which works fine. The light and fan speed are controlled by pull chains. Recently, the fan speed only runs at high speed. When I pull the chain to change speeds it still runs on high. The next chain pull shuts the fan off. I purchased and returned 4 new fan switches as the same problem continues to occur. There is a capacitor/relay with 4 or 5 wires coming out of it with 3 of them connected to the fan switch. All are connected just as the original switch was wired.
Can you shed some light as to what is causing this "HIGH SPEED ONLY" problem?

Appreciate any help you may offer,
Thanks, Jimbo

Either the switch or the capacitor(s) is bad. Ceiling fan switches are special purpose. At 10 years old I'd suspect the cap.

CeilingFanParts.com Home (http://www.ceilingfanparts.com) is a source of parts.

It would be the capacitor. I would try the manufacturer Hunter Fan - Ceiling Fans, Air Purifiers, Humidifiers, Thermostats (http://www.hunterfan.com) before CeilingFanParts.com Home (http://www.ceilingfanparts.com)
